Visas for India


Below you will find the requirements to obtain a visa for India. Once you complete gathering the documents, choose your processing time and place your order online or use the paper order form. If you have questions at any point in the process, click the  and you will be directed to a pop-up page with more information; close that once your question is answered and proceed.

Please NOTE: Effective July 25, 2017 all completed Indian visas will be shipped back to the applicant by the Indian Consulate; we can no longer pick these up and ship them. Documents will ONLY be shipped to the address on the Driver's License or State ID which must match the application.

Due to the number of India applications that are being rejected, AVS is now offering a service to fill out the online application for you and to ensure that it is accepted. Click HERE to use this service.

IMPORTANT: Any application that is rejected will incur at least a $70 additional fee and result in 2 -3 days of delay - for each rejection. Once an application is rejected, a new application will have to be completed and re-submitted.


Requirements - the following documents must be shipped to us:

  • Signed Passport with at least six months validity and blank visa pages

  • Photocopy of information page of passport (Please note that the signature on your passport must match the signatures on the visa application)

  • Two current passport-type photos. For India you CANNOT wear glasses in your photos. Whether you upload a photo or not, we require 2 actual passport-type photos

  • Application completed on the Indian Government website. Click HERE to begin the application process

  • Filled out and signed "Additional Particulars Form". You need to open this document with a form of Adobe software that will allow you to type information into the fields; handwritten forms (expect the signature) not allowed. Click HERE for this form

  • Copy of Driver's License or other State-Issued ID. The address on this ID must match the address entered on the application or the documents will be rejected

  • (for Business Visas) Original Business Letter from company in the U.S. This letter must state the length of visa requested (ONLY 1-year or 5-year durations are possible for business) and match the Invitation and application. This letter must be on company letterhead which includes an address in the Chicago jurisdiction or it will be rejected. The word "conference" should not be used in this letter or it may become a different type of visa.

  • (for Business Visas) Invitation Letter from Company in India  This invitation must state the length of visa requested (ONLY 1-year or 5-year durations are possible for business) and match the Business Letter and application. The word "conference" should not appear in this letter or it may become a conference visa which is more complicated to obtain.

  • (for Business Visas) Certificate of Incorporation. This must come from the company in India which is inviting/hosting the applicant. Contact the Indian company for this certificate.

  • If you were born in Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh or have parents or grandparents born in Pakistan you must appear in person at a local Indian Visa office or there will be significant delays in processing

  • (NEW) For anyone that had a nationality different from their current one - we need a copy of your previous passport's picture page and that of your spouse, if married.

  • (for Non-US Passport holders) Copy of front and back of Alien Registration Card ("Green Card") or copy of U.S. visa in Passport

  • (for Non-US Passport holders) Additional non-US Form. Click HERE for the form. PLEASE NOTE: This form asks for "permanent address," which must be an address in the country of your birth, even if you don't have a residence there. For example, if you hold a Chinese passport, you must list a permanent address in China; you may use your last known address there or a relative's address.

  • Non-US Passport holders can ONLY request a 1-year visa; requesting a longer visa may result in rejection or delays.

  • Minors must have both parent sign the application in both places; one in the box on Page 1 labeled "father" or "mother" and the other under the box, also labeled. On Page 2 both parents must sign and these signatures MUST BE NOTARIZED. Parent also need to send copies of their passports, any copies of US visas and any Indian renunciation information or old India visas and a notarized or certified copy of the birth certificate for the minor. 

You may recieve an email from Cox & Kings detailing the payment for your visa or pick-up information. This indicates that your visa is being processed and will be shipped by Cox & Kings.

India charges $200 for all visas for US Passports as of June, 2018, regardless of duration. Non-US Passport fees vary; use Order Option 2 below for non-US Passports.

Please note: Non-US Passport holders can take 3 to 6 weeks to process. There is no guarantee of Rush processing for non-US Passports.

Order options:

  1. If you have a US Passport and just need an India visa, enter your Departure Date below, then Select a Service below that. When the pop-up window appears, click "OK" to calculate fees. Click "BUY NOW" and follow the instructions on each page. After billing, shipping and credit card info is completed you will receive shipping instructions and an email reciept from If you need more than one Service, either place separate orders online or use option 2 below. If you DO NOT have a US Passport, use Option 2.
  2. If you prefer not to place an online order, need multiple Services or DO NOT have a US Passport, use our VISA/PASSPORT ORDER FORM. Complete all information and ship it with all your documents to the address at the top of the form. Your credit card will be charged once the work is complete and we will include a receipt with your returned passport.

Non-US Passport applicants should use option 2 above for payment as fees for these visas vary.
